The Chilton County High School football program held a crawfish boil and family fundraiser on May 6 inside Tiger Stadium to get its fans geared up for the upcoming football season. Hundreds of crawfish were prepared for Tigers’ fans and multiple food trucks and games for kids and adults were on hand to keep the fun going. The CCHS football program and its Gridiron Club joined together to put on the fundraiser.
The event raised money to install LED lights inside Tiger Stadium that will benefit not only the football program, but the other sports who use the field during its season.
“It was a great event, and just to have the community come out and support the football program was amazing,” CCHS football coach Marvin Morton said. “We were able to bring in fans to Chilton County and the youth from around the area. It was a good time … I appreciate the CCHS Gridiron Club for preparing and sponsoring the event. It gives us a chance to get the community involved within the CCHS football program.”
Morton and the program opted out of spring workouts this year to be able to start fall workouts a week earlier right before the season gets underway. The Tigers’ schedule features six road games and four home games, which will put the Tiger faithful on the road for over half the season.
“We have been working out after school in the weight room doing some football fundamental things throughout the week as well,” Morton said. “We have to treat every game the same, play within our strengths this season and really rely on the fan base to travel with us so it feels like we are at Tiger Stadium every week.”
