The city of Clanton has received confirmation of an Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs grant for a splash pad for Clanton City Park and a bridge at Ollie Park.

The project was approved for $228,765 from ADECA, and the city will match those funds. This brings the total funding for the project to $457,531.

A splash pad and replacing the Ollie Park bridge have been in the works for a while, and the city had initially been approved for a grant in 2020. However, the funding was never received from ADECA, so the grant had to be applied for again.

Mayor Jeff Mims said the splash pad will be installed next to the pool.

While a start date is unknown, Mims did say the splash pad project will take several months to complete.

Specs for the project have been completed. The next step in the process will be putting the project out for bid, which the city hopes to do in the next couple of weeks.
