Jada Neal of Verbena, a bioprocess engineering major at Auburn University, has been selected to participate in the National Science Foundation’s International Research Experiences for Students this summer in Hannover, Germany.

“As a participant in the Process Development for Cell and Tissue Biomanufacturing NSF IRES program, I will expand my knowledge and research work field experience as well as work hands-on in the lab while advancing my growth in communication, leadership and professionalism,” Neal said.

Neal will also be presenting at the spring meeting of the national organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers. The meeting is being held at Ohio State University. Neal serves as vice president for the Auburn University chapter.

Neal is raising funds to cover the cost of both trips.

Neal is the daughter of retired firefighter James Neal, now the pastor of Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church, and Natalie Neal, a Social Security Administration claims specialist.
