Chilton County is under a tornado watch until 1 a.m. on March 27.

The National Weather Service issued the tornado watch at 5:51 on March 26. Damaging winds of up to 60 mph are possible for most of the county. Tornadoes and hail are also a possibility with this storm.

Residents are encouraged to have multiple ways to receive weather information. Have a plan in place to get to a safe area should a tornado warning be issued. Those in trailer homes or second-floor apartments should seek shelter in one of the county’s storm shelters. A list of locations is available hereĀ

A flood watch also remains in effect until 7 a.m. on March 27.
