Terra Scott resigned from the director of the Chilton County E-911 and organization as a whole during the 911 board meeting on March 22. An executive session was held at the beginning of the meeting and lasted approximately 10 minutes. When the meeting resumed, Chairman Jimmie Hardee asked for a motion, and board member Butch Billingsley made a motion “to accept the severance package that has been presented to us from director Terra Scott.” Scott’s immediate resignation was also added to the motion.

The motion was unanimously approved.

Hardee could not disclose any information about the reasoning why Scott resigned or the details of her severance package due to the details being discussed in an executive session.

“We are not allowed to talk about anything outside of the executive session,” Hardee said. “She just chose to resign.”

Details of the severance package agreement were later secured through an Open Records request. According to the document, Scott stated she was “resigning immediately with the agreement of severance package consisting of three month’s salary” and monetary compensation for some paid time off that had accrued. The total amount of the severance package is $33,085.96.

Scott has been with the Chilton County 911 for over 16 years and the director since 2021.

Hardee said there is no prospective replacement for the director role at this time.

“There are none that I can speak on right now,” Hardee said. “We are going to have a work session about it and (feel out) the direction of the board.”
