The Chilton Christian Academy varsity girl’s basketball team stormed into the Alabama Christian Athletic Association Division 2A state playoffs as the South Region’s No. 1 seed. The Patriots had one of their best regular seasons in program history including going 10-0 in region play, and continued their impressive run into the playoffs.

CCA took down Pineview Christian Academy 53-46 in the first round on Feb. 21. Junior Kaylee Calloway led the way with 14 points followed by junior Zoe Jones and sophomore Milly Avery with 10 points each.

The win sent the Patriots into the semifinals and a matchup with Tabernacle Christian School on Feb. 23. The game went to overtime, but CCA dominated the extra period outscoring Tabernacle 11-2 in route to a 55-46 win and a spot in the state championship game. Eighth grader Emma Camp and Calloway each scored a team high 14 points. Sophomore Chelsea Oliver contributed 12 points.

In the final against Cornerstone Christian Academy, CCA fell behind early but closed the margin to 34-28 at halftime. However, a massive third quarter by Cornerstone outscored the Patriots 19-6 and they could never recover, falling 58-39.

Calloway and Oliver were named to the All-Tournament Team after the final.
