The Clanton Police Department made two arrests and seized a variety of drugs in two separate incidents on March 5.

Keshawn Lorenzo Williams, 23 years old of Clanton, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana first and drug paraphernalia, after initially being stopped by police for ignoring a stop sign.

According to CPD information, “When Officer Glass approached the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle, and the driver stated there was marijuana inside the vehicle.”

About 170 grams of marijuana was found in the vehicle.

Williams had been out on bond from a March 3 arrest on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

In a separate incident on the same day, Arron Devonte Anderson, 30 years old of Maplesville, was arrested on charges of drug trafficking for ecstasy, unlawful possession of cocaine with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of marijuana first degree and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Officers Michael Ray and Michael Bradford had initially responded to a 911 hang up call at Inverness Apartments when they smelled a “strong odor of marijuana coming from” a vehicle and “observed an AR style pistol with a drum style magazine along with illegal narcotics inside the vehicle with the male subject,” according to a CPD press release.

“Officers also seized 37 grams of Ecstasy pills, 10 grams of cocaine, 106 grams of marijuana, 5 grams of methamphetamine, AR 15 pistol style rifle with a 100 round fully loaded magazine and $6,850 in U.S. Currency,” the press release stated. “Clanton Police Officers continue to work tirelessly to protect the citizens of Clanton by removing illegal narcotics and illegal weapons from the streets of Clanton.”
