The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles has denied parole for multiple inmates whose charges originated in Chilton County.

On Feb. 28, the board decided to deny parole for Jason Michael Durham and Ashley Nicole McDaniel, who are both serving time on drug-related charges.

Durham is serving a seven-year sentence at the Frank Lee Work Release Facility for possession/ receiving a controlled substance Class D, concurrent to a 2-year sentence for Burglary III and Theft of Property 1. According to minutes from the parole hearing, Durham’s wife and his mother spoke in favor of the parole before the board went into a brief executive session to review the file. After the executive session, the board denied parole with no reset date.

McDaniel is serving a two-year sentence for possession/ receiving a controlled substance Class D. According to minutes from the parole hearing, McDaniel’s mother spoke in favor of the parole. The board went into executive session to review the file before voting on the parole.

During the month of February, the board also decided to deny parole for Christopher Smitherman, Brandon Dewayne Wilson, Kenneth Eugene Carter and Vashard Ricardo Belton.

Smitherman is serving a three-year sentence for distributing a controlled substance. Wilson is serving a three-year sentence for receiving stolen property-Class D. Carter is serving 42 months for distribution of a controlled substance. Belton is serving six and a half years for Robbery III.
