Local law enforcement makes multiple drug-related arrests

Several Clanton residents were arrested on drug or weapon-related charges as a part of a warrant serving operation by the Clanton Police Department and the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 15.

The CPD Detective Division and CCSO Special Operations also confiscated “marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, methamphetamine, fentanyl and a handgun” as a part of the operation, according to a CPD press release.

The press release listed the following arrests.

Broderick Santez Wright Jr, age 25, and Kenya Sanchez Childers, age 30, were arrested on charges of trafficking methamphetamine and multiple counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

Donald Raymond Scott, age 53, and Rickie Jerome Christian were arrested on charges of multiple counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

Melanie Layne Smitherman, age 23, was arrested on charges of trafficking methamphetamine.

Jonathan Darrell Walker, age 30, was arrested on two charges of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

James Reuben Edwards, age 30, was arrested on charges of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

Gregory Markese Collins, age 32, on charges of possession of a controlled substance and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Darius Sartain, age 32, was arrested for theft by deception and non-support of a child. Maxie David Reeves Jr, age 38, on charges of aggravated assault with a weapon.

Manuel Ernest Lattimore, age 28, for a Federal Indictment on Weapons charges with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

CPD also made another drug-related arrest on Feb 10 after Officer Brent Childree found “87 grams of crystal methamphetamine and two loaded handguns” in Ashley Nicole Cooper’s vehicle during a traffic stop on Lake Mitchell Road, according to information released on Feb. 22. Cooper was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a pistol by a violent felon.
