The Clanton City Council unanimously approved multiple professional services agreements during its voting session on Feb. 13.

The one that will bring the largest change to daily operations for the city is an agreement with Tyler Technologies for financial record keeping software. This software will be used by the finance, bookkeeping and utilities departments as well as departments that issue permits.

The software will also have payments update directly into the general ledger.

“I think there is going to be a lot more efficiency,” operations manager Lisa Taylor said.

After the software is approved and purchased, the transition could take up to a year.

An agreement with Carmichael Engineering LLC for site preparation and geotechnical services related to property the city owns on Seventh Street near Walmart was also approved.

The council also renewed an agreement with Neel-Schaffer for bridge inspection services.

The council also approved:

  • Making Feb. 16 Clay Carroll Day.
  • Declaring miscellaneous items, including cellphones, vehicles, an old bulldozer, etc. as surplus in order to dispose of them.
