Parents looking for resources to help their children prepare for school have a new option through the Chilton/ Clanton Public Library.

Ten Reimagining School Readiness kits are now for checkout for three weeks at a time.

“Each kit gives the kids an opportunity to prepare for school,” Jennifer Jones of the Clanton library said.

Kits are available for math, nature, emotions, persistence, etc. Each contains a few books, supplemental items and some instructions. The nature kit includes child binoculars, while the one for measurements has cooking measuring cups.

Children’s librarian Renee Chambers said the library was “very excited” to be able to have the kits.

The toolkits were made possible through a state program focused on getting the kits into every public library.

“(Gov.) Kay Ivey is wanting every library to have this by … the end of 2025,” Jones said. “We were in the tier two group.”

Larger libraries in the state received the resources last summer as a part of the tier one group.

The library is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.
