The Chilton Christian Academy varsity girl’s basketball team kept their stellar season going with a 58-25 win over Victory Christian Academy from Columbus, Mississippi. CCA was led by Kaylee Calloway and Zoe Jones who tallied 17 points apiece to pace the Patriots.

“We played very well,” CCA coach Caleb Jones said. “(The players) worked really well together and they executed as they should.”

The Patriots jumped out to a 15-9 lead after the first quarter. CCA extended their lead in the second quarter by outscoring Victory Christian 21-7 in the frame to hold a 20-point lead at the halftime break.

Calloway added five steals and four rebounds to her 17 points, and Jones had six steals and four rebounds to pair with her 17 points.

“We have come together really well here at the end of the season,” Jones said. “Everyone has found their place and are doing their part in their area … We are still a relatively young team, but we have found our stride and found what works. The girls have been eager and determined, and seem to be pretty focused on executing what we have set up to do.”

The Patriots were able to maintain their lead throughout the second half and cruised to their fifth consecutive win, and their 13th of the season. CCA sweeps the season series over Victory Christian 2-0 after their 62-37 win on the road on Jan. 12.

Emma Camp had nine points and Milly Avery had eight points and six rebounds to round out the CCA scoring against Victory Christian.

The majority of the Patriots roster have been playing together for two seasons. However, CCA has no seniors on their roster this season. That has not hindered the Patriots who are 13-3 overall this season with two games left on their schedule after the win over Victory Christian.

“I think we are on that uphill to hit the peak, and we are playing really well together,” Jones said. “We have a very deep, and confident, bench. They are playing really confident as a team right now … I think we have vastly improved throughout the season and gelled as a team.”

CCA is 8-0 in Alabama Christian Athletic Association Division 2A Region B South play this season. CCA has a matchup with Tuscaloosa Christian on Jan. 26 and they finish their season on Jan. 31 against Victory Christian Academy in Millbrook.
