The Chilton County Cattlemen’s Association’s Annual Dinner will be held Jan. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Jemison Municipal Building. The event will include fellowship, a silent auction and guest speaker Perry Mobley, range and pasture specialist with GreenPoint Agriculture. One membership includes one brisket dinner, catered by Rachel Rachels. All other plates can be purchased for $20.

“We welcome everyone that has cattle in our area,” said Ryan Cox, secretary and treasurer of Chilton County Cattlemen’s Association. “This event is a great opportunity to connect with other cattlemen. If you are having a problem with your cattle, someone else has likely had that same problem and can help in providing solutions.”

Although membership is not necessary to attend the event, Cox encourages cattle enthusiasts to join the association for the added membership benefits which include discounts to over a dozen local businesses, a subscription to “Alabama Cattleman” magazine, an effective lobbyist representative in Montgomery, educational resources, scholarship resources for children of members, agricultural youth programs and other resources.

The Cattlemen’s Association is a nonprofit organization. The money raised at the annual dinner, both from the auction items and membership dues, is used to provide scholarships to students entering the agricultural field.

“Most people would gain some knowledge in attending these events,” Cox said. “I like getting together with like-minded people who are in the cow business. These are the best professionals of this field. We welcome everyone in the cattle business.”

Besides for the annual dinner which will include state and county updates, as well as information about the spring calf show, the association will also meet again later in the year.

Attendees are asked to RSVP to 205-351-1415. Dues can be paid at the door.

Jemison Municipal Building is located at 24747 U.S. Hwy 31, Jemison.
