Jemison advances to semifinals on home floor

The Jemison High School varsity girls’ basketball team punched its ticket to the semifinals of the 2023 Chilton County Basketball Tournament with a 44-26 win over Maplesville High School on Jan. 2.

Coming off a two-game win streak before Christmas break, the Panthers made it three wins in a row.

Jaclyn Lowery led the way for Jemison with a double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds. The senior added five assists and five steals. Zariyah Johnson had 12 points and seven steals, and Trinity Bean had 10 points and five steals.

The No. 4 seeded Panthers advance to the first semifinal on Jan. 5 against the No. 1 seed Isabella at Jemison High School at 5:30 p.m. The matchup will be the third between the two schools this season with each team taking a game. The Mustangs won the first game 64-46 on Nov. 29, and Jemison won the Dec. 15 matchup 58-55.
