The Clanton City Council moved up its final meeting of 2022 to Dec. 22 due to Christmas being observed on Dec. 26. The council approved three resolutions before going into executive session to discuss future development plans that will be announced at a later date, if an agreement is reached.

Mayor Jeff Mims said after the executive session the meeting was about prospective land to continue to enhance economic development in Clanton. Nothing has been finalized with pursuing any plot of land.

The council approved releasing the street bond money for the Avalon Subdivision after the paving of its roads was complete. The city of Clanton takes out a bond for every subdivision that breaks ground in the city, and once the roads are paved the money is released back to the companies. The bond is to assure the roads are completed in a timely manner. The resolution to release the bond money back was approved unanimously.

Resolutions to accept a furniture donation and to surplus two bulletproof vests were also approved unanimously by the council. The furniture was donated after an office downstairs in the city hall became open.

The council also announced that the Clanton city offices will be closed on Dec. 26 and 27 and Jan. 2 in observance of the holidays.
