As temperatures are expected to drop significantly Thursday night, the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office is providing a warming station in the lobby area of the Chilton County Jail.

The lobby will be open from Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. until Dec. 23 at 8 a.m.

CCSO announced on its Facebook that “times may be adjusted to better suit the changes in the weather.”

Updates will be posted on the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

CCSO is also looking to secure meals for those needing the warming station.

“If your organization, business, or church group would like to assist with a meal during this time, please message us here or contact Chilton County E-9-1-1 at 205-755-1120,” the post states. “Please stay safe as the temperatures turn much colder and keep in check with those who have less reliable ways to stay warm. We are here if you need us.”

The National Weather Service has issued a Hard Freeze Warning for Chilton County from Thursday night through early Sunday morning. The low Thursday is expected to be 17, and the projected high for Friday is 28 degrees.

The CCSO is taking supply donations such as paper plates and bowls, spoons, forks, napkins, cups and Lysol wipes to assist as well. Those donations can be brought to the CCSO or the Chilton County courthouse.
