Santa is ready to hear the wishes of children and furry friends alike at the Humane Society of Chilton County’s Santa Paws fundraiser on Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We have done it in the past, and it’s just a good fundraising effort on our part to … raise funds for the shelter, but it is also a good outreach just to touch base with the public (and) let them know that we are there and what services we have to offer,” Humane Society president Tracie Robitaille said.

Photos with Santa will be available for a $10 donation to the shelter. Cash and credit/debit cards will be accepted.

The event will be held at the Gibson Youth Center, 901 Fourth Ave. N in Clanton.

“Seeing the animals come in and get their pictures made is always so much fun,” Robitaille said.

Robitaille said the photo opportunity fundraiser has been expanded this year to include vendors, and the Don Jose food truck will be onsite 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

“They will be selling everything from fine jewelry to honey,” Robitaille said. “We have lots of arts and crafts and boutique items, specialty items that people can come and purchase for gift giving.”

Funds raised at the event will be used to pay for the day-to-day expenses of running the animal shelter.
