This Thanksgiving season, the Chilton County commissioners have many things to be thankful for. Five of them recently shared what they are most thankful for this year.

All five commissioners mentioned being thankful for the health of their families and themselves, the military and first responders around the country and Jesus Christ.

Commissioner Allen Williams

“I am thankful for a healthy family and that everyone in my family is healthy,” Commissioner Allen Williams said. “That is the most important thing to me.”

Commissioner Darrell Bone agreed with Williams and added onto his comments.

“I am thankful for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who died on the cross, so we have eternal life,” Bone said. “That way I can see my family who have passed away one day.”

Chairman Jimmie Hardee shared his gratitude this Thanksgiving season.

“I am thankful for my health, salvation, and I am thankful that we live in a country that is still on biblical principles, and here in the great state of Alabama (too),” Hardee said. “I am also thankful that all of my children and grandchildren will be here, and that we are still allowed to celebrate Thanksgiving as a family. We still have that freedom, and I am thankful for those who have died and fought so we can have that freedom.”

Jesus Christ was a big thankful point for all five commissioners, and Joseph Parnell and Joe Headley centered their comments around their Savior.

Commissioner Joseph Parnell

“I am thankful for God’s grace, and the health of my family and the love of my family,” Parnell said.

Commissioner Joe Headley

“I am so thankful for my health and for my savior Jesus Christ,” Headley said. “Without him, you do not have much.”

Hardee ended the Nov. 22 commission meeting by encouraging his fellow commissioners to separate themselves from their work the next few days, and enjoy time with their families.

“I want to challenge you guys to get away from the hustle and bustle, get away from the Facebook posts, get away from all of that and spend time with your family,” Hardee said. “Get away from the politics. If someone wants to talk politics when you are with your family, tell them you are off until Monday. Go enjoy yourself, enjoy your families and have a happy Thanksgiving.”
