The sentencing of Jermink Lykes, originally scheduled for Nov. 16, has been rescheduled for Dec. 7.

Lykes was convicted of manslaughter, a class B felony with a sentencing range of 2-20 years, in the 2018 shooting of Nasson Postell, a 21-year-old resident of Clanton in Ollie Park on Oct. 21.

The District Attorney’s Office for the 19th Judicial Circuit filed a motion on Nov. 8, asking for Lykes past convictions to be considered in sentencing under the Alabama Habitual Offender Act.

According to court documents, “The defendant has two felony convictions that occurred prior to the arrest date of Oct. 21, 2018. The defendant’s prior felony convictions include the following: … fraudulent use of a credit card, a class C felony … possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony.”

With the Alabama Habitual Offender Act and another applicable sentencing enhancement because a firearm was used, the possible years range for sentencing would be 15-99, according to information from the DA’s office.
