Election updates: CCS superintendent and House 42 seat

Corey Clements was elected the next superintendent of Chilton County Schools with 9,616    votes (83% of the votes) on Nov. 8.

Ron Pinson, who was running against Clements as an independent, received 1,883 votes.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve more students,” Clements said.

He said he is ready to move beyond the election.

Clements will take office in January.

In the State house 42 race, five precincts are reporting and absentee ballots have been counted. Van Smith has  8,650 votes to Doug Ward’s 599 votes.

With 10 precincts reporting, all of the amendments have more votes for than against , except Amendment 6.

With 15 precincts reporting in the race for governor, Kay Ivey is leading with 8,675 votes. Wes Allen is leading for Secretary of State with 8,570 votes.
