Care Net of Chilton County is getting ready for its first Hope on the Water fundraising event to benefit families in Chilton County. Hope on the Water will kick off around 6 p.m. on Oct. 14 at Higgins Ferry Park at 11161 County Road 28 in Clanton. Attendees can arrive to the event via land by car or by water on their boats. There will be space for attendees arriving by boat to dock.

“We were looking to have a fundraiser … something that has never been done before,” Ashley Liveoak, executive director of Care Net of Chilton County, said. “People can come and listen to music and have a Friday evening to enjoy.”

Care Net was looking for a new and fun fundraiser to incorporate as many people from the communities of Chilton County as possible. Care Net also wanted to incorporate Lake Mitchell into the event as well, thus the Hope on the Water event was founded.

Hope on the Water will feature a live concert by band Deputy 5, and several different types of food trucks will be on hand for dinner. Money donated at the event will go back to Care Net of Chilton County, and also to a new project the nonprofit has planned. Care Net is planning to open Selah’s Oasis, a maternity home for women, by the end of 2023.

Selah’s Oasis will be for women in Chilton County “who are looking for a healing and encouraging environment … The overall mission will be to walk alongside women, bringing love and compassion to the wounds, scare and darkest shadows where pain is lurking,” according to the Care Net of Chilton County Facebook page.

“That is what we are working now, and it will be like an extension of Care Net of Chilton County,” Liveoak said.

QR codes will be placed around the event for patrons to scan and allow them to donate directly from their phones. Care Net will also take cash donations at the event as well.

“I feel like we have not had something that everyone can partake in, in our fundraising and so this event is open to the public, and we are advertising throughout the county,” Liveoak said. “It is really a time that we hope our community will come together and just be along to enjoy the entertainment, food and fellowship together. We are hoping and praying it will successful, and help raise awareness about Care Net and our future plans.”
