The 4-H Tech Changemakers and Kelsey’s Place are teaming up to help adults who are looking for a job to find one.

A free workshop will be held at Kelsey’s Place, 950 Lumac Drive in Clanton, on Oct.12 from 3:30-5 p.m. The workshop will feature assistance with resume writing, cover letters and information about applying for jobs online.

Registration is requested by calling 205-299-5748 by Oct. 11.

“Our goal is to help adults obtain a job whether it is increasing their job skills or helping them with resumes or helping them write a cover letter or helping them with technology,” Sherry Carter, 4-H Tech Changemakers program assistant, said.

The 4-H Tech Changemakers will answer individual questions for those who attend.

Those who attend are encouraged to bring a way to take notes and a copy of their resume or a way to access it.

The 4-H Tech Changemakers includes students ages 10-18. The Tech Changemakers receive training on job help skills and resume best practices. Carter said the students then share information about these resources with adults who are looking for jobs.

This is the first time the Tech Changemakers have partnered with Kelsey’s Place. Kelsey’s Place was recommended to Carter by Lisa McCullough at the Chilton Regional Research & Extension Center as a good location for the event.

Carter is looking forward to the youth in the program being able to help people.

“It is also great leadership opportunities for 4-Hers,” Carter said.

4-H Tech Changemakers is made possible through a grant from Verizon. Students in the program registered through the 4-H website and then attended a kickoff event and training.
