Rebels fall to Montevallo in straight sets

Thorsby High School fell to Montevallo High School 3-0 in the Rebels home volleyball match on Aug. 23. The Rebels were led by Morgan Scarbrough with 13 digs and seven assists. Brooklyn Reeser had six aces and five assists for Thorsby.

“Even though we came up short, we fought really hard,” Thorsby coach Brittany Maddox said. “I’m proud of the hard work my girls are giving.”

Thorsby dropped game one 25-16 and game two 25-10. The Rebels posted their highest point total in the game three with 18 but dropped the game 25-18.

“We had a few rallies within the games and we found a way to get the points twice,” Maddox said. “It was a great game with a lot of determination and fight.”

Thorsby hosts West Blocton High School on Aug. 25 at 4:30 p.m. Montevallo hosts Calera High School on the same day at 6 p.m.
