A Family Dollar/ Dollar Tree combo store is coming to Maplesville.

Farmer & Associates Inc. has begun clearing property on Highway 22 for the 10,500-square-foot building. The site had most recently been used by a fireworks stand.

The store is expected to open Feb. 1, 2023.

β€œI think it is going to be exciting,” Developer Murray Farmer said. β€œIt is going to create about 20 direct jobs in the community, and about 60 in total with the trickle effects (in) economics.”

Online applications will be accepted at familydollar.com/careers-store. Farmer estimated Family Dollar/ Dollar Tree would conduct on-site interviews in late December or early January.

Farmer said site work for the project began in late June, and the construction could be complete in October. The company will then lease the building to Family Dollar/ Dollar Tree.

Once the land is prepped, the next step of construction will be running sewer and electric to the site.

The building will be a pre-engineered metal building. Farmer said the company ordered the building and supplies early to stay on track with the project amidst continued COVID-19 supply chain issues.

Farmer & Associates Inc. has completed other projects for Family Dollar/ Dollar Tree in Alabama, including another in the construction phase in Goodwater.

The first Family Dollar/ Dollar Tree combo store the company completed was in Linden.

In January 2022, the company contacted Maplesville leadership asking if the town council had any objections to a Family Dollar coming to town. During the Jan. 17 meeting, the Maplesville Town Council approved having Mayor W.C. Hayes send a letter to the company stating the council was fine with having the business open in town.
