Never stop learning

What do you enjoy most about it?
This is a question that I ask anytime I am doing a profile on someone about their profession or hobby.
I have asked the question a few times this month as a part of stories that will be featured in the 2022 edition of Faces and Places.
While the answer to this question naturally varies, a response I have heard several times from professionals throughout my career is “the people.” Whether co-workers or customers, the people are what make the job enjoyable.
“Meeting new people” has also been a common response.
This would be an answer for me also. I have met so many people I would probably have never met if I had a different career. For me though, the opportunity to get paid to learn about new things is also a major component of what I enjoy about my job. It’s great to be getting paid to learn, rather than paying to learn as I did in college.
Pickle ball, agriculture, gardening, government, bungee fitness, aerial yoga and raising goats are just some of the topics I have learned about while writing about them for The Clanton Advertiser.
Getting to share this new-found knowledge with others is an added level of enjoyment.
Interviewing artists is always fun as they talk about what they are passionate about. Since visual art has never been my strong point, it is neat to see what others can create.
I recently met some regional artists at the Chilton County Arts Festival, and it was fun to see all the different ways people are visually artistic.
Many enjoy art because it allows them to express themselves and can be a good stress relief.
Learning new things is a great way to keep life enjoyable and to keep one’s mind sharp.
