The Chilton County Arts Festival is scheduled for July 16 this year at the Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center.

Regional artists will be selling their work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a variety of activities planned.

Admission is free.

Organizer Mack Gothard of the Chilton County Arts Council said he is looking forward to seeing a return of many who had participated before the COVID-19 pandemic. He expects 40-50 vendors. All items will be the original creation of the artist.

“This is giving them a venue to promote their own works,” Gothard said.

Paintings, wood carvings, wood work, quilts, jewelry and pottery are some of the art mediums that will be featured.

“A lot of the former ones are coming back because they enjoy it,” Gothard said. “We are one of the only ones in the summertime inside.”

In addition to the many art vendors, the event will also feature art classes and antique appraisal by certified appraiser Edward Patillo.

Gothard said attendees can have up to two pieces appraised for $10 each.

Classes will be offered by Maymay Made It at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. including photo folio, explosion box, a vintage linen and lace album and a card box. Registration is required. Details are available at chiltoncountyartscouncil.com/event-calendar.

Gothard said having art classes at the event is something he has wanted to offer for several years.

He sees the classes as a way to promote the arts and pique interest.

A silent auction will also be held to raise funds for the Chilton County Arts Council. A list of items that will be a part of the auction will be posted on chiltoncountyartscouncil.com/auction-for-the-arts.

The Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center is located at 1850 Lay Dam Road in Clanton.

The Chilton County Cruisers will have a car show out front.
