New opportunities to shop local have come to Maplesville with 36seven50 Boutique.

The name was chosen as a way to highlight something about the town and be unique, owner Amanda Burnett said.

Her husband gave her the initial idea to use the town’s zip code, then Burnett decided to spell out one of the numbers to make it more unique.

The boutique carries clothing for men, women and children as well as accessories.

“We have something for everybody, and that’s what a lot of people like about it,” Burnett said. “They say a lot of times they can’t find the plus sizes.”

New items have been added at the suggestion of customers and employees.

She carries Old South brand for men and Zenana for women.

“We don’t really have any thing here like this so that is why I thought it would be a good location,” Burnett said.

Even though 36seven50 is the only clothing boutique in Maplesville, Burnett was surprised that business has been as consistent at it is.

“It has been great,” Burnett said. “… We have regular customers that come in once a week. The community supports it a lot.”

She said she has enjoyed this opportunity to be more involved in the community.

The boutique opened across from Maplesville Supermarket on March 5.

Burnett said the location appealed to her because of “the volume of people” who already come to the shopping center.

Ideas for opening a boutique started with a conversation with Shear Heaven salon owner Leanne Walls in January. Walls mentioned that the building next to the salon was available, then she suggested that Burnett open a clothing boutique since the town did not have one.

Burnett had been selling specialized graphic T-shirts out of her home since 2014.

“I started doing it for family only, then people kept asking me and it grew from there,” Burnett said.

Some of her unique shirt designs are available at 36seven50.

36seven50 Boutique is open Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
