The Clanton City Council discussed its upcoming agenda during a meeting on June 9.

The next voting session for the council will be June 13 at 6 p.m. at Clanton City Hall.

A transfer of funds from the general fund to the water fund will be considered.

Mayor Jeff Mims said there is a lot of work being done on the system. However, he commented that with the more accurate water meters that are being installed the water department has already seen an increase in revenue that will hopefully eliminate the need to transfer more funds for maintenance in the future.

Mims also told the council that the city owns property that some Alabama Power poles and a transformer are on, so an easement needs to be approved at the June 13 meeting.

A one-time payment to retirees as a cost of living increase, purchasing two vehicles and declaring surplus air packs that are no longer compatible with the Clanton Fire Department’s upgraded equipment will also be considered.

During the June 9 meeting, Fire Chief David Driver presented a list of 17 recommended AED public access locations as a first phase, if the city moved forward with purchasing new ones.

“In my opinion, this is where we need them at to start,” Driver said.

He also presented a cost comparison between two companies.

The list included having the units in several patrol cars.

Assistant Police Chief David Clackley suggested including some of the public work department vehicles also.
