A mural highlighting all the great things about Clanton is taking shape on a wall near Corner Park in downtown Clanton.

Charlotte Blencowe and Conner Traywick have completed the lettering and a sketch of the iconic water tower. Blencowe said she submitted several sketches to city leaders before a final design was chosen.

Painting has begun on the peach of the water tower with colorful plans to highlight Clanton within each letter of the word.

“C” will feature the clock near city hall. “L” will feature a vintage biplane and the Tuskegee hangar that now sits at the Chilton County Airport. “A” will feature peaches and blossoms. “N” will feature the silhouette of a fisherman. “T” will feature a fresh produce stand. “O” will feature cut up local fruit. The second “N” will feature the grist mill.

Blencowe said how long the mural will take to complete will depend on the weather, but she expects it will be at least another week and a half.
