YMCA set to open pool for summer fun

The YMCA of Chilton County is poised to open the Clanton City Pool on May 31 for residents to beat the heat this summer.

The pool, located at 200 Third Ave. North in Clanton, is being managed by the YMCA again this year. The pool will be open to residents from 1-5 p.m. on Tuesday-Sunday. Members of the YMCA of Chilton County may swim for free. It will be $5 for non-members to get in the water.

This summer, the YMCA will offer swim lessons for 18-month olds to adults. The cost for lesson will be $60 for members and $85 for non-members, according to YMCA information. There are six spots per class and registration will be on a first come, first serve basis.

Children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult 18 and over.

The Mommy & Me class for 18-month to 3-year-olds will be on June 6-15 from 8:30-9 a.m.

A class for 3 and 4-year-old children will be on June 20-29 from 8-8:30 a.m.

There are five different sessions for 5-year-old children and up throughout the summer. June 6-10 from 8-9 a.m., June 13-17 from 8-9 a.m. and June 20-24 from 6:15-7 p.m. are the dates for lessons in June. July 5-8 from 8:15-9 a.m. and July 25-29 from 8-9 a.m. are the dates for the July lessons for 5-year-old children and up.

There will also be a class in conjunction with the July 5-8 sessions for anyone else in the community who would like swim lessons.

The adult swim lesson class will be held on July 5-8 from 6:15-7 p.m.

Registration for the classes can be done at the YMCA of Chilton County located at 405 Ollie Ave. in Clanton.
