Girl Scout Troop 337 hosts community egg hunt

Girl Scout Troop 337 held Hoppy Hunt to raise funds for Easter baskets for children who might not otherwise receive them on April 2.
Juniors in the Troop were working toward their Bronze awards, and Cadettes were working toward Silver awards through the event. Juniors are in fourth and fifth grade. Cadettes are in middle school.
The girls in the troop brainstormed ideas and purchased items needed for the event.
In addition to an egg hunt, the event also included face painting, dancing with the Easter Bunny and snacks.
“I enjoyed getting to work with all the other Girl Scouts,” Cadette Sariah Dailey, who has been in Girl Scouts for about two years, said.
Cadette Kinzlee Price, who has been in Girl Scouts for about five years, said the event was a fun way to help someone else. At the event, she was a part of hiding the eggs and running the snack booth.
Troop Leader Amy Jolley said the troop usually does an event like this every two years, so the girls can achieve the awards.
The Girl Scouts have been working on this project during Scout meetings all school year.
“I kind of gave them the idea, and they just ran with it,” Jolley said.
To promote the event, the girls made flyers to put up around town and videos to post on Facebook.
Cadettes need more hours of work invested in the project to achieve the Silver award than the Juniors do for the Bronze.
Dailey said she has enjoyed meeting new people and getting to know people better through the Troop.
