The West Chilton Brotherhood, a group of men from several churches, is organizing an “old-fashioned tent revival” for April 10-13.

The event will be held in Maplesville on Highway 22 across from Heart of Dixie Parts & Equipment at 6:30 p.m. each night.

Bradly Seales of the West Chilton Brotherhood said there are approximately seven churches involved in organizing the event. The guest speaker will be Jared Pilkington of Port St. Lucie,

Florida.

Pilkington has previously spoke at Hillcrest Baptist Church because he is friends with the pastor.

“His father used to preach in Chilton County,” Seales said. “…We were just blown away by how well he knew the Bible (and) his ability to preach and relate to common, country working folks.”

Musical guests will be Holy Destiny, Spoken For Trio and Donna Weaver.

Admission is free, but a love offering for the guest speaker and musicians will be taken.

The nursery at Maplesville Baptist Church will be open for parents with young children.

While the members of the West Chilton Brotherhood attend Southern Baptist churches, the revival is open to everyone in the community, Seales said.

“We have a lot of people from other denominations that help us, that have donated money, that have donated materials for these projects that we do,” he said.

The group has been around for several years, but, as with most organizations, has been less active during the past couple of years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the first time the group is holding a revival.

“We usually try to do a couple of events each year … just kind of as an outreach, just trying to spread the word of Christ, spread the gospel,” Seales said.

The group focuses on trying to help those in need, especially those not attending church. Seales said local churches usually can provide for the needs of those who attend.

“There are a lot of people who do not go to church in our community, so the Brotherhood, what it was originally designed for was to help those that did not have a church family, those that did not attend church regularly … they really don’t have anything, other than family maybe and some of them don’t even have that close by to help them during hard times — our West Chilton Brotherhood kind of fills that gap,” Seales said.

Past projects have included roofs for people’s homes, building wheelchair ramps, bill assistance and yard clean up.
