Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center held its annual Flutter event on Feb. 3 and hosted 250 people in a great turnout for the organization.

Although inclement weather threatened to put a damper on the event, Chilton County residents still attended to make the event a success.

“We were thrilled, we had a wonderful event and it was well supported again,” Butterfly Bridge executive director Jana Zuelzke said. “We’re so grateful for the support even in the bad weather.”

While the total funds raised has not been finalized, Flutter is expecting to have generated more than $100,000 between the donations and auctions.

“We are absolutely blown away by the support we got,” Zuelzke said. “We’re almost speechless that we were able to raise that amount.”

Flutter exceeded the goal of $70,000 that was set prior to the event. The money raised will go to core services provided by the center, such as forensic interviews and trauma focused therapy. All of the services offered by Butterfly Bridge are at no charge to the children and families supported.

Butterfly Bridge will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to open their new location in Clanton on Feb. 18 and hope to have the same type of turn out that Flutter had.

“We want everyone to come out and see our new home,” Zuelzke said. “Come out and celebrate with us.”
