Chilton County 4-H members were very successful at the Alabama 4-H Livestock Skill-a-thon and Quiz Bowl events, which were held on the Auburn University campus Jan. 7-8.

For Joshua Barr and Hannah Barr, who compete in the Junior 4-H division, this was their second time participating at the state competition. Corvis Crowson, a senior-level competitor, was

participating for the first time. They are members of the Chilton County 4-H Livestock Club, which

meets once a month and focuses on livestock knowledge and judging.

In the Skill-a-thon events, participants competed in Livestock Evaluation, Livestock

Identification, and Quality Assurance exercises. On Jan. 8, the youth participated in a Quiz Bowl

contest.

Joshua earned fourth place in the Livestock Evaluation exercise and seventh place overall as an individual.

Joshua and Hannah were members of the Junior team that placed third in the Quality Assurance

exercise.

Corvis earned fourth place as in individual in the Quality Assurance exercise. He and the Senior team

won second place Overall, earning second in Livestock Evaluation and third in both Livestock Identification and Quality Assurance.

In the Quiz Bowl event, the Junior team won first place in the double-elimination event, losing

only one match in the quarter-finals. The Senior Team won third place in their division.

Chilton County also had two independent members participating in the Livestock Weekend Events:

Lillian and Claire Smith from Jemison. Lillian received second place in Junior Quality Assurance and was

part of the team that earned second place in that event, third place in Livestock Identification, and third

place overall. Lillian and Claire were members of a team that placed second in the Quiz Bowl event.
