Parole decisions released for three locals

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Parole has released information on parole decisions on inmates from Chilton County.

Rebecca Lynn Gamble was granted parole on Jan. 13, according to information released on Jan. 20.

Parole was granted with the condition that Gamble “complete NA/AA weekly and Drug Assessment Upon Release,” according to the parole hearing minutes.

Gamble had been sentenced to 10 years on for trafficking methamphetamines in September 2019. She served three years, one month and 16 days, according to information from the Alabama Department of Corrections.

Michael Wayne Jones was denied parole on Jan. 13.

Jones is serving concurrent sentences related to a theft of lost property II and burglary III in Chilton County from August 2020, possession of a controlled substance, theft of property I and burglary in Tuscaloosa and possession of a controlled substance in Bibb County from 2019.

Luis Albero Cruz was denied parole on Jan. 18.

Cruz was sentenced to 15 years for manslaughter and a 10 years concurrent sentence for leaving the scene of an accident with injury in Chilton County in May 2019. According to the minutes from the parole hearing, one representative from the Attorney General’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office and the nonprofit Victims of Crime and Leniency each spoke against parole being granted.
