Cherron Bell is returning to her roots by opening Bronze & Boujee tanning salon in the town where she had her first job.

Bell grew up in Thorsby and graduated from Thorsby High School. She said she started working for Bentley Farms at the age of 14.

“I am a little more used to the smaller towns,” Bell said.

Bronze & Boujee, which opened on Jan. 15, is Bell’s opportunity to work for herself after gaining three years of experience in the industry.

Her personal enjoyment of tanning started her on this career path.

“It is just something I enjoy,” Bell said. “It motivates me (with) body confidence.”

She said tanning gives her an opportunity to have some time to herself to relax.

Now, she is providing this opportunity to the community through Bronze & Boujee.

Bell is Smart Tan certified to recommend settings and lotions for best results and to prevent staying in too long and getting burned.

The Smart Tan classes teach “which skin tones need how much time … what types of lotions are proper for skin types, what different things you need to be able to boost your tan,” Bell said.

The salon features three tanning beds with monthly packages available.

Bell is also working toward her certification to be able to offer spray tans.

“We have a lot of clientele for spray tans,” Bell said.

Teenagers 15-16 years old need parental consent before tanning at the salon. A parent must accompany a 15-year-old. Those younger than 15 will only be able to do the spray tans when available.
