JES students enjoy career day

Jemison Elementary School hosted a Touch-A-Truck career day on Nov. 10.
The event gave students the opportunity to learn about different careers in the trucking/transportation industry.
Jemison Elementary’s Kara Cleckley and Teresa Knott put the event together for the students, wanting them to gain some insight into possible careers that they could pursue in the future.
Some of the representatives present at the event were the U.S. Army/National Guard, Alabama Builders, Thompson CAT, Jemison Fire and Rescue and the Alabama Law Enforcement Marine Patrol, among others.
The students were thrilled to see all of the different career possibilities available.
“They love it,” Cleckley said. “They love interacting with the people, they love getting in the vehicles, touching the equipment and asking lots of different questions. They ask silly questions, hard questions, questions you wouldn’t think about. So, they really do love that.”
There were 10 total representatives present to speak to the students. Cleckley was excited to see the event be such a success.
“It’s a very positive, fun day for our students,” Cleckley said. “So, I would definitely say it’s a success.”
