Kelsey’s Place, a nonprofit that offers GED classes and helps community members find jobs, is having drawings for custom blankets to raise funds.

Two are fleece style with crocheted edges. One has a University of Alabama theme, while the other has an Auburn University theme. Tickets for these drawings are $1 each or six for $5.

A more traditional quilt is also being sold. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.

Board president James Pierce said the funds would be used for class supplies, such as computer upgrades and books.

Tickets are available at Kelsey’s Place, 950 Lumac Drive in Clanton.

Tickets for the drawing can also be purchased from any Kelsey’s Place board member or by contacting Pierce at jamespiercekelseysplace@gmail.com.

The drawing will be held on Nov. 22.

Pierce said the GED classes are full right now, and more interest is expected. He said many jobs require a high school diploma or GED.

Students are accepted to the program on an ongoing basis, so they can start at any time.

The organization is also looking for another community member to serve on the board, Pierce said. Those interested can contact Kelsey’s Place at 205-299-5748 or through their Facebook page.
