Another week is now in the books for this football season, and this week featured some extremely exciting games.

Thorsby’s offense was electric in the team’s bounce back win over Francis Marion, CCHS nearly pulled off the upset of the year over Helena, Billingsley ended a five-game losing streak over Verbena and Jemison battled hard in a loss to Selma.

Maplesville enjoyed the week off before a big matchup against Notasulga next week, but rival Isabella played a scrappy Highland Home team to the finish. Here is how that game went down.

Isabella 24

Highland Home 18

Isabella High School pulled out a wild win in overtime over Highland Home this week. It took five quarters for the Mustangs to get it done, but the Flying Squadron gave Isabella everything they had.

Once again, running back Zac Chapman led the high-powered Mustangs offense in the win. The star gained 113 yards on the ground on 29 carries, also scoring once for Isabella.

In the passing game, quarterback Eli Kendrick was also effective, throwing for 73 yards and two touchdowns.

The real MVP of the game though was Caleb Washington. The defensive star racked up 12 tackles in the game, five for a loss. He also had three sacks and four forced fumbles in the game, doing it all for a defense that has been stout most of the season.
