Week four saw all seven local teams hit the field.

Three of teams came off a bye week, getting some rest before continuing on with their seasons. One of those teams was Thorsby High School, who fell in a thrilling game to Isabella High School in week four by a score of 28-22.

Another was Chilton County High School, who fell to Calera High School 21-0 in its first regional game of the season.

Meanwhile, Verbena High School, who also began regional play this past weekend, lost a tough game to Autaugaville High School 41-12.

Among the other games played by local teams was a rivalry game between 1A foes Maplesville High School and Billingsley High School. Jemison High School also came back from its bye to play its first regional game of the year. Here’s how those games went down.

Maplesville High School continued its hot start to the season on Sept. 10, knocking off rival Billingsley High School.

The win pushed the Red Devils’ record to 4-0 for the season while Billingsley fell to 1-3 with the loss.

Maplesville dominated this one from the beginning, beating the Bears in all facets of the game.

The defense was outstanding, shutting out quarterback Levi Arington and the rest of the Billingsley offense.

On the offensive side of the ball, it was once again senior running back Brady Harrison who led the way.

Harrison led the Red Devils in rushing, picking up 111 yards off 15 rushes, good for an average of 7.4 yards per carry. He also scored one of the five Maplesville touchdowns in the game.

Jemison High School fell at the hands of Marbury High School in its first regional game of the season.

Despite being well-rested coming off the bye week, the Panthers were unable to match the Bulldogs on either side of the ball.

The Panthers struggled to get much going in the run game, averaging slightly over two yards per carry in the game.

The passing game did not see much success either, as Jemison only gained 77 yards through the air. Seventy-one of those yards came on the only scoring play of the night for Jemison, a touchdown pass from Hayden Robinson to Tyriq Archie.

The loss dropped the Panthers’ record to 0-3 this season.
