Joseph Raymond Cox, 94, of Clanton, Alabama passed away on Aug. 11, 2021 at his home in Clanton. He was born February 5, 1927 in Chilton County, Alabama, son of the late Arthur Lee Cox and the late Velma Watson Cox. He was bookkeeper and office manager with Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Corporation in Billingsley, Alabama until he retired in 1987. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Clanton where he served as Deacon for more than 50 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed golf and was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan.

Surviving are his two daughters: Christy Glenn (Larry) and Sherry Cox; three grandsons: Chris Craig, Cam Craig and Clint Glenn; two great-granddaughters Colsen Craig and Caysen Craig.

He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Franklin Cox who passed away in 1987 after a long bout with cancer, and second wife Audrey Hardy Cox who passed away in 2016. Predeceased siblings include Helen Teel, Margie Wingard, Bernice Dombrowski, Pauline Roper, Arthur Cox, Jr., and Charles Cox.

Graveside service were held Aug.14, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton with the Rev. Roy Spears officiating.
The family requests no flowers, but those wishing to memorialize Raymond may do so by contributing to the American
Alzheimer’s Association.
