The Chilton County Board of Education got in some last-minute hires on Aug. 10 before classes began the following day.

Among the eight certified employees, two were on emergency certifications and one was an interim certification.

School systems can hire employees to teach without a certification typically for hard to fill position or when there is a shortage of certified applicants. The teacher is then required to complete the certification process within a certain amount of time.

The board hired two teachers for Verbena High School, a media specialist for VHS, two teachers for Chilton County High School, a teacher for Jemison High School and two teachers for Clanton Elementary School.

The board also hired two CNP workers, two Pre-K Auxiliary teachers for Clanton Elementary School and a teacher assistant for Thorsby High School as well as five part-time employees.
