Angie Avery Mayfield has been disbarred by the Supreme Court of Alabama.

Mayfield had been an attorney in Clanton.

The order for the consent to disbarment was filed on May 6 with the final court document being filed on May 20.

According to court documentation, Mayfield was “disbarred and excluded from the practice of law in all the Courts in the state of Alabama, effective April 27.”

Mayfield had previously been suspended for 91 days in August 2020, after violating the terms of her two-year probation. This probation had begun in October 2018.

According to documentation from the Disciplinary Board of the Alabama State Bar, these violations were reviewed after Carl Mims filed a complaint with the Alabama Bar Association. Mims had paid Mayfield $781 in 2016 to file the necessary documentation for an eviction.

However, Mayfield did not complete the work, nor did she give a refund. The Disciplinary Board of the Alabama State Bar also cited Mayfield on violating the rules requiring accurate records.
