Raleigh’s Place will be hosting a clean-up work day at their Camp 1:27 campus on June 5 at 8 a.m.

The clean-up day will help get the campus in order ahead of campers attending Camp 1:27 this summer. This is the 10th year that Camp 1:27 will be held in Clanton. The campus clean-up day has been around for years as well, according to Raquel Jones, who is in charge of the clean-up day event.

Helpers will be asked to help do yard work, clean up cabins and buildings as well as help finish a rope course that is being built for the campers. However, yard work is the main thing that needs to be done, according to Jones, so anyone that volunteers is encouraged to bring work gloves as well as anything else they might need to do yard work.

Anyone that wants to volunteer for the work day is welcome to do so.

Volunteers are also encouraged to help out beyond June 5 as well.

“Yard work is something that is never done, so if anyone wants to volunteer, even during the summer, they just need to contact me and we can find a day when the campers aren’t there that they can come,” Jones said.

Camp 1:27 is located at 346 County Road 1028 in Clanton. For more information on how to volunteer, contact Raquel Jones at 205-217-2177.

Camp 1:27 is an “annual summer camp program for foster children, children in relative placement and adopted children,” according to Raleigh’s Place’s website.
