Central Six Alabama Works! will be hosting the Chilton County Career Fair at the Jefferson State community College, Clanton campus, on May 25.

The fair will be held from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., and there is online registration available in advance. While registration is not mandatory, it does allow Central Six to prepare for the fair, and lets them stay in touch with the participants after the event, according to Austin Bullock industry partnership manager.

“Registration is not required, but is highly recommend,” Bullock said. “It gives us an idea of how many people will attend and helps us stay in contact in case they do not find an opportunity that day.”

Social distancing and facemasks will be required while at the event. This is to help protect all the participants and the company representatives attending. Jefferson State also has these requirements in place on all their campuses. However, this will not prevent companies from trying to meet potential new employees, Bullock stated.

“The companies are not just there to share information,” Bullock said. “They are coming with the intent to hire people.”

While it is being held at a college campus, the career fair is not only for high school and college students. Bullock said anyone interested in finding a career opportunity in the Chilton County area is welcome to come.

“Several of the larger local companies and some other smaller ones will be there,” Bullock said. “This is defiantly a good opportunity to find a position for those that are looking.”
