Regional musicians in the pop/punk genre are coming to Chilton County this summer for the first Summercore Fest on June 19.

David Gentry, who is a part of the organizing team, said there are plans to make this an annual event.

“There is a small pop/ punk scene here in Alabama,” Gentry said.

Last year, the COVID-19 pandemic canceled bands’ plans for live concerts. The Summercore Fest is kind of a celebration of live events being able to be held again.

“With the mask ordinance coming down … and the vaccine now being pretty much available to everyone, we felt that it was time to go ahead and allow these bands to play again and we though the best way to kick that off was with a music festival,” Gentry said.

Summercore Fest will be held at Dixie Hideaway Event Park, 2750 County Road 24 in Clanton. Doors will open at 1 p.m. The festival is expected to last until 10 p.m.

The headlining band is Suckr Punch from Birmingham.

Cost is $10.

Other bands performing include Hopes on Hold from Auburn, Under Giants, Worthy of the Crown, Knives, American Secrets, Noo Sauce and Colin Keyz.

Gentry connected with this style of music and some of these artists through his company

Door Number 3 Films because he wanted to make their music videos.

The event is open to all ages. However, those with alcoholic beverages will be asked to show ID to security.

No glass bottles of any kind will be permitted.
