The Chilton County Chamber of Commerce has named Vanessa McKinney its Chamber Champion for this year.

“Every year, the Chamber awards the Chamber Champion Award and the Chamber Champion is someone who is not only a good friend and a helper to the Chamber, but to the community, and Vanessa is definitely that,” Executive Director Rachel Martin said.

McKinney thanked the organization for the recognition, but said everything she does through Senior Connection is a team effort.

“We appreciate everything you do,” Martin said. “… You have gone above and beyond for your members during the COVID shutdown to make sure that they had everything that they needed.”

The award was presented at an After Hours event hosted by Senior Connection. McKinney had no idea she would be receiving an award that night.

“Vanessa kind of solved a problem for us this week when she did invite us to come and help with this After Hours,” Martin said.

Since the awards banquet could not be held this year, the Chamber had been looking for a way to present the honor to McKinney.

McKinney has been the director of Senior Connection since it opened.
