The Clanton City Council unanimously approved contracting with InCare Technologies during the March 22 voting session.

The contract will be approximately $15,000 a month with an additional one-time cost of $30,000 to upgrade the city’s technology infrastructure, according to City Clerk Jonathan Seale.

Seale said the city’s equipment is outdated and needs to be upgraded. Part of these upgrades will improve the city’s internet capabilities through fiber.

“City hall is going to be the main central hub for the whole project, then they are going to run a satellite feed so to speak out to the police department and fire station number one,” Seale said.

He said other city-owned buildings would be added at a later date.

Councilman Billy Singleton said he had talked to Seale about whether this needed to be bid out.

Seale said that since it was a professional service it was not required to be bid under the bid law. However, city personnel did get three quotes for the service before presenting a proposal to the City Council.

The contract includes 24/7 technical support.
