JES, JIS to get new principals

The Chilton County Board of Education approved non-renewal of contract principals for Hayden Scott Ingram and Steven Hunter during its meeting on March 16.

Ingram had been the principal of Jemison Elementary School. His name has been removed from the school website.

Steven Hunter had been principal at Maplesville High School prior to current MHS principal John Howard, but had become the transportation supervisor in 2018. The Chilton County Schools website still lists Hunter as the transportation supervisor.

In a phone interview, Superintendent Jason Griffin could not give further information because it involved personnel.

Jemison Intermediate will be getting a new principal next school year following the approval of DJ Nix retirement’s on March 16.

Other retirements approved included Child Nutrition employee Carolyn Mims, Jemison Elementary teacher Arlene Wilson, EL Director Pam Bearden, Verbena High School teacher Lenora Price and bus driver Kathy Deavers.

Clanton Intermediate teacher Caitin Maddox and bus driver Jerry Deavers received approval of their resignations.

The board also approved 79 leave requests, pay for three long-term substitutes and hiring a secretary/ bookkeeper for Central Office.
