Raleigh’s Place foster care ministry will start 2021 off in a big way by being the chosen beneficiary of the Winn-Dixie Community Bag Program for the month of January.

It will be the third year that Winn-Dixie has had the initiative in place.

A different local nonprofit organization will partner with Winn-Dixie each month and Raleigh’s Place has the honor of kicking off the New Year.

According to a Raleigh’s Place press release, the nonprofit was selected by Winn-Dixie leadership.

“We are thankful that Winn-Dixie has recognized the needs of our community and has chosen to partner with us to serve the fatherless in Chilton County,” said Sharon King, executive director of Raleigh’s Place. “Funds received from the community bag program will go to directly support our programs specifically our foster homes, Camp 1:27, Katie’s Kloset and Workmanship Initiative.”

Raleigh’s Place will receive a $1 donation every time a specified reusable community bag is purchased at the Winn-Dixie Clanton location.

However, customers will have the option to donate more to Raleigh’s Place by filling out the “giving tag” attached to each bag.

The bags are $2.50 a piece and can be found hanging around the cash registers or around the store.

The Winn-Dixie Community Bag Program launched in February 2019, with the hope of facilitating community support and making a difference in the communities where its shoppers call home.

Raleigh’s Place has served the foster care community in Clanton and the surrounding areas since 2004 by providing foster homes and resources for foster families.

Resources include a free summer camp for foster children (Camp 1:27), free clothing and other items (Katie’s Kloset), and preparing teenage foster children for life after care (Workmanship Initiative).
